The team in Premier Foods asked us to help them deliver an innovation pipeline for their confectionary offering – the mainstay of which is their famous Gateaux Swiss Roll. Innovation in the past had been incremental – they wanted something more radical. They came to jump!
One of the big challenges was to help, as they saw it, a very commercially focused organisation learn how to take risks and open up their minds to allow great new ideas flow. The other, bluntly, was to get new ideas which would grow the business.

The solution we designed focused on removing the team from their everyday comfort zones and helping them fall in love with cakes. We identified four big opportunity areas and enlisted the help of a team of bakers to bring the ideas to life. Lead concepts were tested with target consumers and high potentials then painstakingly tested by the team at an office tea-party. Premier now have a 3-year innovation pipeline with some future family favourites in the making!
